District Nursing
The purpose of our District Nursing Service is to provide quality nursing care to clients in their home environment, support and assist them to maintain or achieve their maximum health potential, retain their independence and to act as a resource for people seeking information related to health care needs.
The philosophy of the District Nursing Service is directed towards maintaining people’s health and dignity in society.
West Wimmera Health Service District Nursing Service aims to meet the health and wellbeing needs of the individual/client and to encourage them to maintain control of the direction of care. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating the care given.
The service is provided from all towns in the West Wimmera Health Service catchment area, although the frequency of the service varies from one community to another. Arrangements can be made to provide a service out of normal hours if required.
The service is staffed by Division 1 and 2 Registered Nurses who often travel many kilometres each day to provide a service to people living on farms and small hamlets in the area.
