Services currently provided by WWHS are as follows:
Antenatal Shared Care Program
Women have the opportunity to access midwife care. Your local doctor and midwives work together to give support. Appointments can be made by contacting the Nhill Hospital on 5391 4222.
Antenatal Classes
Are conducted four times a year. Each program consists of five sessions. Physiotherapist, dietitians, and midwifes facilitate these classes
To book for classes please contact the Nhill Hospital.
Post Midwife Domiciliary Care
Following the birth of your baby you will be contacted by your local midwife. Care consists of monitoring and giving support to all members of the family during this most important time. Following discharge from domiciliary care a Maternal and Child Health Nurse will make contact with you and your family to arrange an appointment.
Maternal and Child health
A maternal and child Health Nurse visits Nhill, Dimboola, Rainbow and Jeparit on a weekly basis. Following birth, all parents will receive a Child Health record Booklet. This booklet outlines the MCH service.
Parents have the choice of home, telephone or centre visits giving flexibility in care. The nurse is a registered nurse, midwife and MCHN enabling her to provide a wide range of advice and support from immunizations, child health, development and behaviour to maternal wellbeing and family functioning.
Strategies are discussed and recommendations are suggested and if required, referrals to secondary health care providers are made.
