West Wimmera Health Service is seeking a passionate Director of Nursing in a full time capacity at our Rainbow Hospital and residential aged care facilities.

Managing an acute ward, urgent care centre and two residential aged care facilities, which are home to 20 residents, the Director of Nursing will ensure the health care facility is running smoothly at all times. Your strong communication skills and diplomacy will enable you to lead the team and support residents and their families through the journey of residential care.

Our Rainbow facility also offers allied health services, community nursing, and social support groups. You will be supported by a team of DONs and Executive Management based over our 10 campuses, throughout West Wimmera.

Located in the vibrant town of Rainbow, about an hour’s drive from the city of Horsham, you can join the close-knit community. Rainbow is a small town with a wealth of history, best known for its unique wildlife and wildflowers. Being surrounded by the environments of Lake Hindmarsh, the Wimmera River, Big and Little Deserts and Wyperfeld National Park, Rainbow offers some of the best birdwatching in the state. People come from all over Australia to see the endangered Mallee Fowl. These areas also offer fantastic spaces for 4 wheel driving, motorbike riding, fishing, canoeing and other water sports, camping and bushwalking. It’s also a photographers and stargazers dream with wide open spaces, big clear skies and no light pollution.

You are welcomed to town with a big colourful rainbow sign and amazing murals on the walls around the street. The famous Bow Bakery is well-known all over Victoria for its delicious pastries and sweets, as is the Yurunga Homestead which gives visitors a strong sense of what it was like in the pioneering days. Rainbow also hosts the Rainbow Desert Enduro, attracting the best off-road racing drivers and teams from across the country as the third round of the Australian Offroad Racing Championship. And if that’s not enough, the nearby Mount Arapiles (famous for its rock climbing), Grampians National Park and Silo Art Trail all make for adventurous day trips.
