Emotional Support
West Wimmera Health Service provides free support for women and their partners during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum to help with depression, anxiety, and bonding.
Pregnancy and early parenting can bring joy — and challenges. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or not quite yourself, reach out to our Perinatal Emotional Health Practitioner.
The Perinatal Emotional Health Program is NOT a crisis service. If you, or someone you know aren’t coping or are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, please call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.

How you might be feeling
Pregnancy and early parenthood can be a beautiful time, filled with love, wonder and new connections. It can also feel tiring, lonely or overwhelming at times. Many new parents experience a mix of emotions as they adjust to this big life change.
Some common feelings can include:
-
Feeling low, tearful or a little flat
-
Worrying more than usual or feeling anxious
-
Tiredness, loneliness or feeling overwhelmed
-
Changes in eating or sleeping patterns
-
Feeling frustrated or easily irritated
-
Finding everyday tasks harder to manage
-
Feeling unsettled or fearful for yourself or your baby
-
Difficulty concentrating or remembering things
-
Feeling a loss of control or confidence
These experiences are more common than many people realise, and support is available. You don’t have to manage these feelings on your own — reaching out can make a real difference.
