The Rehabilitation Team at West Wimmera Health Service (WWHS) extends their sincere appreciation to the Country Women’s Association (CWA) Nhill Branch for a generous donation that will enhance rehabilitation services for clients across the region.

Thanks to the donation, WWHS has been able to purchase two valuable pieces of rehabilitation equipment – Blaze Pods and a hydrotherapy plinth – both of which are already making a positive difference for clients.

Blaze Pods are an interactive and flexible piece of rehab equipment that can be used by people of all ages – from kids right through to older adults to support a wide range of therapy goals. As each pod lights up, the person taps or steps on it, then moves to the next one as it changes.

This type of activity helps build lower-body strength, stability and quick decision-making, which are all important for everyday movements like walking, turning and preventing falls. The exercise can be adjusted to suit different abilities, making it useful for falls prevention, rehabilitation following surgery or injury, return to sport or work, and neurological rehabilitation for people living with brain injuries or neurological conditions.

The new hydrotherapy plinth expands treatment options available in the WWHS hydrotherapy pool. It allows therapists to offer a wider range of exercises and positions in the water, making sessions more personalised and helping clients build strength and confidence as they recover in a safe, supportive setting.

Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists at WWHS say the new equipment will significantly expand the services they can provide, enabling more flexible, engaging and targeted treatment approaches. Most importantly, the equipment will help improve rehabilitation outcomes for clients throughout the communities WWHS services.

“We are incredibly grateful to the CWA Nhill Branch for their generosity and commitment to the community,” Emma Beer, Allied Health Team Lead, WWHS said.

“This donation will directly benefit our clients and allows our rehabilitation team to offer even better care to people of all ages across our communities.”

WWHS also acknowledged the ongoing contribution of the CWA, whose members continue to make a meaningful impact through their commitment to supporting health services and community wellbeing.
